Katie Ha Dongju (b.1995), was born in Seoul, Republic of Korea, and is currently a Saxophone major in Ewha Women’s University under the tutelage of Jung Sun Sub. Katie has shown great potential in her musical talents as she has won numerous prizes in multiple competitions such as the Seoul National University Competition and the Buwon National Music Competition. She has also been invited to perform in several seminars and workshops for important audiences such as the president of the Republic of Korea.
Katie first picked up the saxophone in high school, and has since become an active figure in the saxophone scene in Korea. She arranges music for saxophone quartet, and performs regularly with groups such as the Ewha Saxophone Quartet, La Byul Quartet, The Quartet, Erato Saxophone Quartet, Universal Saxophone Ensemble, and the Gunpo Wind Orchestra.
Her repertoire includes works from composers such as André Weignein, Jaques Ibert, Jean-Baptiste Singelée, Pierre Max Dubois, Alexander Glazunov, Roger Boutry, Jules Demersseman, Claude T. Smith, Henri Tomasi, Edison Denisov, Takashi Yoshimatsu, and Villa Lobos among many others. She has also had lessons/masterclasses with renowned teachers such as Yo Matsushita, Jeffrey Loeffert, Hugo Loi, and Ding Zhang.
