Pieter Pellens is a Belgian saxophone player based in Brussels.
He studied at the conservatories of Ghent, Milan, Vienna and Brussels.
As a freelance musician he worked with ensembles and orchestras such as: Symfonieorkest van de Munt, Brussels Philharmonic, Filarmonica della Scala, Orchestra dell’Academia Nazionale Santa Cecilia, Orchestra dell’Academia Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Jeunesse Orchestra, Vienna Saxophonic Orchestra, Nadar Ensemble, het Collectief.
As an experienced orchestra player he worked with conductors such as: Daniel Harding, Riccardo Chailly, Stéphane Denève, John Axelrod, Giancarlo Guerrero, Dennis Russel Davies, Marc Minkowski, Alain Altinoglu, Paul Daniel.
From 2012-2016 he was a member of FIVE SAX, and since 2016 he is the alto player of Bl!ndman saxophone quartet.
He performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls such as:
Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Gasteig München, National Concert Hall Taipei, Musikverein Wenen, Konzerthaus Wenen, Radiokulturhaus Wenen, Carnegie Hall NY, Teatro alla Scala Milaan, Cité de la Musique Parijs, Teatro del Lago Frutillar, Cité de la Musique Strasbourg, Yuen Long Theater Hong Kong, Aichi Arts Center Nagoya, Kitara Concert Hall Sapporo, Symphony Hall Fukuoka, Concertgebouw Brugge, deSingel Antwerpen, Bozar en Munttheater Brussel, Bijloke Gent.
Currently, Pieter teaches at the Academy of Music in Ghent and is an assistant professor at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
