About

Yo Matsushita is a saxophone soloist from Japan. He has been praised for his virtuosic and excellent control over repertoire across genres like baroque, classical, romantic, modern, contemporary, rock, pop, jazz.  He has also done a lot of world premieres of new work written for the saxophone.  

Yo is interested in reviving the C melody saxophone and is developing new technology for the instrument to be suitable for music in the 21st century. Yo is also an active arranger of  music and has had his arrangement performed in different parts of the world.  He has also participated in numerous World Saxophone Congress and had done master-classes in different part of the globe. 

Yo frequently performs with professional orchestra and wind ensemble both in Japan and abroad. He has also received prizes in numerous competitions, namely first prize in the Fourth Jean-Marie Londeix International saxophone competition which was held in Thailand.

Yo began the saxophone at the age of 14. He graduated from the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music and the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music Academy for his Bachelors and Masters respectively.  He is currently a lecturer at the  Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.

Yo has released an album entitled "Tokyo RocknSax" available commerically.
